Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information Gatekey handles when you use the Gatekey iPhone app (the "app") and this website, getgatekeyapp.com (the "site"), and the choices you have.

1. Who we are

Gatekey is operated by Sebastian Trumbo, Florida, USA ("Gatekey," "we," "us"). You can reach us at [email protected].

2. What the app processes

Your full photo never leaves your phone; only cut-outs of the clothes are sent to find matches, and nothing is saved.

When you scan a photo, a screenshot or a picture from your camera, Gatekey finds the pieces of clothing in it on your iPhone. For each piece, the app makes a cut-out: a cropped image of just that clothing item, such as the jacket or the shoes.

The app sends these cut-outs, and never the full photo, to Gatekey's own server to find matching products. Cut-outs are used only to return matches, and they are not stored.

3. How matches are found and service providers

Cut-outs go only to Gatekey's own server, which analyzes them with our own model to describe each item and find matches. Cut-outs are not sent to any other company, and we don't sell or share your photos or cut-outs.

To find products, our server sends text searches, such as "brown leather ankle boots," to marketplaces like eBay and Etsy. These searches never include photos. Products from affiliate networks such as Awin come from a catalog our server downloads, so Awin receives nothing from your scans.

If we ever use a third-party image recognition service, we'll update this policy before sending it any images.

The types of providers we use:

• Hosting and content delivery: Cloudflare, which runs this site and stores early access emails.
• Product sources: marketplaces such as eBay and Etsy, which receive text searches, and affiliate networks such as Awin, whose catalogs we download. They supply the products, prices and links shown in results.

4. Stored on your device

Your Library, your folders and your settings (such as who you're shopping for, which price level shows first and whether to include secondhand) are stored on your iPhone. Deleting the app removes them from your phone.

5. This website

Early access emails

If you join the early access list, we collect your email address, the date you signed up and which signup form you used. We use your email only to tell you about the launch of Gatekey. It's stored with Cloudflare, our hosting provider. We don't sell it or share it for advertising. You can have it deleted at any time by emailing [email protected]; otherwise we keep it until we no longer need it for launch updates.

Bot protection

The signup forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that a person, not a bot, is signing up. Turnstile processes technical information from your browser, such as your IP address, under Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how many people visit the site and which pages they view. It doesn't use cookies and doesn't follow you across other sites. The site itself doesn't set cookies.

6. App analytics and crash reporting

The app doesn't include any third-party analytics or crash reporting tools. If you've chosen to share with app developers in your iPhone's settings, Apple may share crash reports with us through App Store Connect. You can turn this off in Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements.

7. Affiliate links

Some links in the app and on this site are affiliate links. When you tap one, you leave Gatekey and go to a store's website. The store and the affiliate network behind the link may use cookies or similar tracking to credit the sale, under their own privacy policies. We may earn a commission when you buy through our links. Purchases happen on the store's site, so we never see your payment details.

8. Children

Gatekey is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

9. Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you. For most people, that's only an early access email address. We'll respond within one month.

California

If you live in California, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to ask us to delete or correct it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We don't sell personal information and don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We won't treat you differently for using these rights.

European Economic Area and United Kingdom

If you're in the EEA or the UK, we process your information to provide what you ask for (finding matches for the cut-outs you send), with your consent (early access emails, which you can withdraw at any time), and for our legitimate interests (keeping the site secure and counting visits). You can also ask us to restrict or stop processing, or to give you a copy of your data. Our providers may process data outside your country with appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses. You have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

How to ask

Email [email protected] with "Privacy request" in the subject. We may need to confirm it's you before acting on a request.

10. Changes and contact

We may update this policy as Gatekey changes. When we do, we'll change the effective date at the top, and for significant changes we'll let you know in the app or on this site.
